Bass Reeves is considered by many to be the inspiration for the character, Lone Ranger. Reeves was a Black lawman who served as a U.S. Marshal was known for his law enforcement work in the American West. He became the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi River and one of the greatest frontier heroes in American history.
